Oh, Crap…. I’m in Trouble

This plan operates on a daily and quarterly basis.

If student chooses to break a rule, the following procedure is in place:

After Two Verbal Warnings -> Writing of Behavior Contract (It is long you don’t want it!)

More than 2 Contracts during a Quarter = Parent Convo

3 Contracts during a Quarter Will be Automatic Office Referral

(Serious Boneheadery = Auto Office Experience)

What do you mean I’m Late????

Tardy/Attendance Policy follows student handbook (pgs. 10-11, 19) Arrive past the tardy bell, no Bueno.

Three tardies = Principal Bonding Experience and time in ISS.

Talking Boxes/Selfie Machines and Nom Noms

Cell Phones WILL NOT be Allowed in Art Class Unless Needed to Complete an Assignment. If the Cell Phone is out During Class Ms. Williams will Hold it in Cell Phone Jail Until the End of the Hour. NO ARGUMENTS REQUIRED. Artists have had the corner on the selfie market for a long time.... long before SnapChat, Instagram and Facebook... Sorry, but unless you're making that selfie by hand we don't care.

No Food will be Eaten During Class; Art Projects can Involve Materials that may be Toxic if Ingested. (Nom, Nom, Nom) Drinks Must Have a Closable Lid and Will be Kept OFF THE TABLES. Abuse will Result in the Privilege Being Revoked.

Gimmie an A! Rah, Rah, Rah! Gimmie a B?

Art is a project-based class that requires daily participation. Daily participation points WILL BE given, and points WILL BE deducted from final project grade for lack of participation/attitude issues. A successful artist requires a sketchbook… be prepared its coming in September! Major class assignments will vary between 100 and 400 points depending on the length and depth of work/thought required. Other points may be available during class for extra credit (*On an individual basis. If you didn’t work on your assignment don’t ask for extra credit). Woo Hoo for You!

Major Assignment Grading in the Art Room runs on Rubrics. The Student will Evaluate Their Own Assignment on the Same Rubric Ms. Williams Uses. Objectives Listed on Rubric will be Given to Students in Advance and Posted on the Board.

(Art is designed to help students take risks and be creative. By allowing students to self-evaluate their choices can be explained and taken into consideration during final grading by Ms. Williams)

Can I FIX this Mess??? Please? I Beg of You?!

There is a philosophy in art that a work is never completed. This philosophy grants the right to resubmit if the student would like to fine tune a work in hopes of getting a better grade.

                Resubmission Rules:

  1. If student worked diligently during class periods and work in generally finished at the assignment due date there will be no points lost only gained if resubmitted.

  2. If assignment is not completed by due date (due to lack of work ethic, unexcused absences, etc) and there is a significant amount of work to complete there will be a 10 point loss is available points for every day an assignment is not finished. Example: student turns in half completed work at due date and receives a 50/100 points then waits 3 days resubmit the 50 points that were still available will be reduced to a max of 20 available points. Making a possible perfect work worth at max 70%.

  3. Resubmissions will be accepted up to two weeks prior to end of quarter/semester.

DON’T FORGET ME! PLAN AHEAD!

  1. If you are going on a school trip or have extracurricular activities on the due date for an assignment; Assignments MUST BE TURNED IN BEFORE YOU LEAVE, unless you have made prior arrangements with Ms. Williams.

  2. You are responsible for collecting your makeup work for an excused absence. Work must be completed within the time frame listed in the attendance policy in the student handbook. If your absence is not excused you will receive a “0” for that day’s work.

HELP ME!!!! HELP ME!!!!

Students can arrange times to receive tutoring before or after school. Just let Ms. Williams know in advance.

*Students are required to bring a pencil and an eraser to class daily. If forgotten, beg/borrow from a friend. Or beg/borrow from me – Cost from Ms. Williams 1 personal item of value ex: shoe, phone, wallet, younger sibling, best friend, favorite pet (I love puppies), etc.

*Bathroom experiences – Normally, Ms. Williams will let you go without issue. Just do not abuse your privilege. Abuse = Tinkle Time Lockdown. It is obvious if you want to go every day at noon…… FYI.

If there are any concerns or questions please feel free to contact me at my email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
