UP CLOSE - HARNESSING THE PROCESS OF CHUCK CLOSE

Concept: 

 

This is an open-ended project that allows for student choice (with teacher approval). By looking at examples of Chuck Close’s work and by working with their own color scheme, the students will create a work using Chuck's thought process and style. Students are to keep in mind that we will be pushing color intensity and using optical color theory. Choice of subject matter should be dynamic in composition and evoke a mood in the viewer. Entire work does not need to be gridded in Close's style as long there is a stong focus on his process in the piece.
